10 Wonderful Ideas for a Unique Summer Wedding
Summer is the most popular time of year to have a wedding. And with long warm days, clear blue skies and very little chance of rainfall, it’s easy to see why. But with so many summer weddings to compete with, you’re going to have to up your game if you want your wedding to stand out and make a big impression on your guests.

Frozen desserts and summer go hand-in-hand so why not combine the two and treat your guests to an ice cream bar? Have your caterers set up all kinds of wonderful flavours and fun toppings so everyone and make their own personal sundae.

Make the most of the sunshine and organise some garden games for your guests! You can go for traditional games like croquet and quoits or go for a more modern feel with a giant Jenga and giant tic-tac-toe. Garden games are great for keeping the kids entertained, too.

Oranges are at their best during summer so take full advantage and use them as part of your table centrepieces. They’ll add a gorgeous pop of colour as well as a delicious summer-inspired fragrance everyone will love.

Until the ice cream bar opens, keep your guests cool by having your wedding programme printed out onto paper fans. Not only will people have an extra incentive not to lose the programmes, but they also make wonderful keepsakes of the day.
5. Brightly coloured bouquet
Your bouquet doesn’t have to match the rest of your wedding décor. Make the most of the summer flowers that are in season and go wild with bright colours. Sunflowers, brightly-coloured roses and gerbera daisies all look fabulous and will really stand out against a white dress.
6. Outdoor dance floor
Instead of cooping everyone up into a sweaty dance floor, think about taking the party outside so you can feel the gentle breeze on your face as you have your first dance. You can pick a flat grassy spot and ask everyone to take their shoes off or rent a readymade dance floor.

Not everyone drinks enough water and on a hot summer’s day, you don’t want dehydrated guests. So encourage them to grab a glass with big jugs of fruit infused water at each table. It tastes just as good as it looks!

If you’re planning on everyone being outdoors during dusk, it might be a good idea to offer small insect repellent sprays as wedding favours for guests. Don’t forget to use it yourself! The last thing you want is for everyone in your wedding photos to be covered in red bites.
9. Firework display
The perfect end to your summer wedding! If you’re worried about there being a nip in the air, provide blankets or pashminas that match your wedding décor so everyone can snuggle while they watch the skies light up.
10. Sparklers
Have buckets full of sparklers and a safe method of lighting so when the sun sets, everyone can spark up and wave the glittering wands at you. Twirling these captivating mini fireworks is a great alternative to throwing confetti and is much more fun for your guests, too.
