How to Find the Perfect Engagement Ring
So you’ve found the girl of your dreams and you want to ask her to marry you – wonderful! Now it’s time to find an engagement ring. Of course you want it to be perfect, but the process can prove overwhelming. With this in mind, we’ve devised a few tips to help you find the engagement ring that is right for her:
Think about her style
What fits her personality and lifestyle? Does she have an understated, yet elegant appearance? If so, then a timeless solitaire diamond may be perfect.
Is she outgoing? In that case, you may wish to choose a higher setting to complement her extrovert personality. You can also add a circle of gems around the centre diamond for a touch of glamour. Here at Angelic Diamonds, we offer you almost any style you can think of. Browse our Engagement Rings section to find just the right one.
Think about diamond shape
Now you have a clear idea of her personal style and taste, you need to think about the shape of the diamond, even before you think about the Four Cs (cut, clarity, colour, and carat weight).
Round diamonds have a classic appearance and are by far the most popular shape for engagement rings. This is due in part to their amazing sparkle. This classic shape works well in a range of different settings.
Princess diamonds are square in shape. They have a complex array of facets and more visible sparkle as a result. Their exuberant appearance makes them perfect for fun-loving ladies.
Emerald diamonds have a rectangular shape. They also have a large table (the flat surface on top), which also gives it more clarity. The emerald is great for those with an air of cool confidence and glamour about them.
Match the diamond with the right setting
The setting in which the diamond sits will set the tone for her engagement ring. For a mix of the classic and modern, choose a round diamond with a bezel setting. To give a fashionable oval a little more classic appeal, you may wish to consider a four-pronged setting. You should always bear in mind that it is vital to match the setting and stone.
Buy within your budget
Traditionally, engagement rings are supposed to cost no less than two months’ salary. Do you want a large ring, but don’t have the budget to match? If so, consider a diamond with a slightly larger table for a suitably grand appearance. Or if you want 2-carat sparkle without the expense, choosing a 1.8-carat stone could save you nearly 20%.
Order at least six weeks before you propose
A ring can take six weeks to arrive after your order. It could take even longer if you place a custom order. Buy ahead and be sure that you have the ring in time for the romantic proposal you have planned.
