A cluster engagement ring takes opulence to the next level. Rather than having a single diamond (as in a solitaire engagement ring), a collection of smaller diamonds are arranged in a ‘cluster’. This creates a multi-faceted pattern that looks like a larger diamond.
Popular designs include a flower or a starburst pattern. Even though the diamonds themselves are smaller individually, the higher number of facets makes a cluster ring really sparkle.
They’re about comparable in price to other types of diamond engagement rings. The diamonds used in cluster rings are smaller, but there are more of them. So, you have a ring that’s about the same in carats as a larger single stone.
The way the stones are set takes a great deal of skill to ensure that each one is positioned precisely to maximise that sparkle. It will depend on the carat weight of diamonds in the cluster, the design, and the metal.
You can choose from a wide range of metals, from traditional 18k yellow gold, or go for a more unusual finish with the warm, peachy tones of rose gold. White gold is also a fabulous choice to make a cluster engagement ring pop.
The soft silvery tone of the cluster ring setting gives the illusion of an even more extensive collection of diamonds. If you have very sensitive skin, a great choice is platinum 950. Platinum is hypoallergenic as well as stunning.

Diamonds are easy to care for. They rarely scratch and are resistant to damage. Be cautious with square or princess-cut diamonds, though, as the corners can be vulnerable to chipping if knocked hard.
To keep a cluster diamond ring looking like new, all you have to do is gently wipe it with a soft cloth occasionally. If you notice a build-up of your skin's natural oils in the setting and on the band, pop the ring into some warm, soapy water and allow it to soak. Rub with a cloth and rinse, then let the ring air-dry. Another quick polish with a cloth, and your ring is sparkling like new.
